    Summary:

Since she was born, Zee has had a talent, or a special intelligence. She perceives things that no one else does. Zee hears what people think, feels what people feel. Through their eyes, Zee sees herself, and that vision changes her. Sometimes Zee is the precocious daughter of her four adults. Sometimes Zee is a teenage thug from Brooklyn, New York, a teenage basketball player who gets into trouble. His four adults worry and test him, but Zee anticipates their fears and outwits them. Little by little, Zee learns to grow up and adapt to the expectations of society and the eyes of others, at the risk of losing herself.
